Participation Process

Welcome or welcome back to JDSTA Region 11 Science Fair! As a teacher, you are one of the heroes of Science Fairs, and a most honored hero at JDSTA. You are a critical player in this creative piece of science education.

The process for participation is

  1. State: Each sponsor/school will receive a mailing from the Illinois Junior Academy of Science. (It will be addressed to the person who was designated the previous year as science fair sponsor, usually a middle school teacher.) The mailing contains:
    • The Illinois Junior Academy of Policy and Procedure Manual
    • Dues sheet ($50.00 payable to the state organization)
    • Information letter
    • Essay information
  2. Region 11: All the information and materials you need can be found on this web site:
    • Registration Form (to participate in science fair you must pay a $100 fee to JDSTA as well as the state fee mentioned above)
    • Permission slip for state fair
    • Sponsor Ad request
    • Guides for the two sessions of the fair -- project and paper/essay
    • Student Manual
  3. To assist you, several members of the committee are willing to serve as mentors to answer questions and concerns. Contact information can be found on About Us.
  4. If you are a new administrator or have a new sponsor, it would be beneficial to familiarize yourself with the material.
