Project Session General Infromation

  1. The Region 11 Science Fair will be held at the University of St. Francis on March 13, 2009.
  2. DuPage county will participate in the morning. Will, Grundy, Kankakee and Cook ounties will participate in the afternoon.
  3. Each school may enter eight scientific projects.
  4. Students may compete in Project or Paper or Essay Sessions. Dual entries are not permitted.
  5. Projects entered may have one or more student presenters, however, they must have a primary author.
  6. Projects submitted must follow the rules and guidelines in the IJAS Policy and Procedure Manual published in September 2008.
  7. Papers must be typed or done on a computer or word processor.
  8. All projects must have an Abstract and a signed Safety Sheet within the paper, as well as, on the backboard. Projects without these required forms will be disqualified.***
  9. Papers based on vertebrate research must have either the Humans As Test Subjects Endorsement or the Non-Human Vertebrate Endorsement signed by both the student and the sponsor. These also need to appear on the backboard. Include documentation.***
  10. Follow the citation format found in the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association(fifth edition). No footnotes are to be used. Sources must be listed in the Literature Cited section of the paper as explained in the IJAS Policy and Procedure Manual. This is different than a traditional biography.
  11. Completed Judging Information Sheet must accompany the entry:
    1-2 Projects…………………………one judge
    3-4 Projects…………………………two judges
    5-6 Projects…………………………three judges
    7–8 Projects…………………………four judges
    Please note: Judges remain for the full day-both morning and afternoon sessions.

You may enter eight Projects. Projects that are submitted without the required number of judging sheets will be disqualified.

It is the responsibility of the teacher/sponsor to see that all requirements and deadlines are met. If a project fails to meet these requirements and deadlines, the project may be disqualified.
